Care and Maintenance Suggestions
From PATIO PLACE and MEADOWCRAFT
To keep your Meadowcraft furniture looking its best for years to come, we
recommend some minimal care...
WROUGHT IRON CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Clean with warm, soapy water. Damage to the paint finish may cause corrosion. The finish is formulated and baked on to make it highly resistant to repellents and lotions. However, to avoid discoloration, clean the frame as soon as possible after exposure to these chemicals. Do not cover wrought iron furniture.
FRAME CARE AND MAINTENANCE
The frames should be washed with mild soap and thoroughly rinsed. Do not use abrasive materials or strong detergents. It is recommended that at least twice a year (preferably spring and fall), you wax your frames with Meadowcraft revitalizing protectant or a quality liquid wax. The revitalizer should be thoroughly sprayed on and allowed to "soak". After approximately fifteen minutes, the frames should be rinsed well to remove any residue. Before waxing the frames, you should inspect for any chips in the finish, which occur under normal usage. You should repair chips and scratches with Meadowcraft touch-up paint, following the instructions on the back of the can.
If a portion of your furniture should get bent, you can straighten or level the bent piece. This furniture is constructed of wrought iron, a malleable metal; therefore, by pulling or pushing firmly, you can straighten most pieces yourself.
CUSHION CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Most of our fabrics may be cleaned with warm soapy water. All woven fabrics should be cleaned with Ivory Liquid or Joy (two caps per gallon of water). Mildew stains can be cleaned with a mild solution of one cup of Clorox Plus and two caps of Ivory Liquid or Joy per gallon of water. Hose frequently to avoid dirt build-up and allow to air dry. Loose threads should be clipped with scissors, never pulled.
Vinyl Coated Polyester: Hose frequently to avoid dirt build-up. Clean with mild detergent and water.
Cotton: Do not leave cushions outside in elements. Should your cushions become wet, dry them immediately. Vacuum regularly to avoid dirt build-up.
Vinyl: Wipe clean with a damp cloth and mild soap solution.
Acrylics: Wash with soap and water. If stain remains, use a mixture of one cup bleach and one cup laundry detergent in a gallon of warm water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
Printed Acrylics: Wash with a mild detergent and sponge. Do not use abrasive materials or bleach. Allow to air dry.
UMBRELLA CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Occasional waxing of the middle and top pole with car wax will prolong the life of your umbrella. Air-dry your umbrella before closing it. Always close umbrella after use to prevent wind damage.
